Proto-Slavic ǫ and Polish ą

In Old Polish, the Proto-Slavic ǫ became ą.

Polish is one of the few Slavic languages that preserve nasal sounds like ą and ę.

The sound ǫ and ą is pronounced like a very open “on” sound, very similar to French numeral one: un or bon.

Interslavic decided to reflect the spelling used in Proto-Slavic and Old Church Slavonic, which used Cyrillic ѫ and Latin ǫ.
