How to show or hide hidden files in macOS Finder?

You can show hidden files by pressing together SHIF + COMMAND + "."



To display hidden files in your Mac that start with ".fileName":
- Open Terminal
- Execute

  • defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
  • killall Finder

To hide hidden files in your Mac that start with ".fileName":
- Open Terminal
- Execute:

  • defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
  • killall Finder
